Also know as the Ethiopian Banana, the Ensete is a wonderful plant that can grow outside in mild areas. Compared with the Musa variety of bananas, the Ensete has a deep burgandy colour with huge paddle leaves.
The plant will require full sun and well drained soil. They are not as hardy as the Musa banana and need to be kept frost free in the winter, An option would be to lifting during the winter and keeping in a frost free greenhouse.
